A headboard is not a necessity. Your bed can still be
a focal point in the room with alternatives such as using
two large scale paintings side-by-side, a narrow bookcase
behind the bed, drapery panels hung from a simple wood
dowel above the bed to soften the wall, or even a scrap
piece of iron work from a local salvage yard will do the
trick. You can go as far as masking off a rectangular
shape on the wall and painting that portion a different
color. Once you remove the tape - instant faux headboard!
Try adding moulding to frame the newly painted area to
give it more dimension. Be creative!
